Musk Donates Millions to GOP Causes
Elon Musk donated $5 million each to GOP super PACs supporting House and Senate Republicans, and another $5 million to Trump’s MAGA Inc. in June, making him the top individual donor in early 2025. He also funneled $45.3 million into his own America PAC, which spent heavily in key races and outreach efforts.
Political Spending and Influence
America PAC reported $47.3 million in spending from January to June, including $15.5 million in April during key elections. Musk also funded voter petition incentives and spent $6 million on field operations.
New Party Plans, Poor Reception
In July, Musk announced a new “America Party.” But a CNN poll found “just 25% of respondents said they would support a party led by Musk, while 74% said they would not.”
Backlash and Skepticism
Trump mocked Musk’s idea, saying, “He even wants to start a third political party… The system seems not designed for them.”
