Snow-White Twins Capture Hearts Again
In 2018, Jorge Gomez and his wife from Argentina welcomed twin girls, Virginia and Catalina. Their birth quickly gained media attention — not only because they were twins but because both were born with striking snow-white hair. The photos went viral, and the girls were soon dubbed Argentina’s first known albino twins.
A Unique and Joyful Birth
The couple, who already had a son, were overjoyed to be expecting twins. But they never anticipated the rare condition their daughters would be born with. “When they gave us the news that we would have two babies, it gave us a lot of happiness and when they were born and we saw that they were albinos, that happiness did not change at all. For us it is a blessing,” Jorge told a local newspaper.
The twins were born prematurely at 36 weeks but were healthy. The delivery surprised doctors, who were stunned by their appearance. Albinism, the condition the girls were born with, is a rare genetic disorder that results in little or no melanin production, affecting skin, hair, and eyes.
Living with Albinism
Albinism comes with challenges, especially sensitivity to sunlight. The family takes extra precautions to protect the girls from harmful UV rays. Despite the adjustments, their parents remain focused on raising them with love and acceptance. “That happiness did not change at all,” Jorge repeated in another interview.
Growing Up in the Spotlight
Now 4 years old, Virginia and Catalina are still turning heads. Last December, they modeled handmade dresses in a photoshoot that once again went viral. Their story continues to inspire others and shed light on the beauty of people with albinism.
No matter how they grow, one thing is certain — “these little angels will always have each other.”
