Jasmine Crockett One Step Closer to Being

Texas Redistricting Threatens Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s Seat

Texas Republicans have advanced a redistricting plan that could eliminate Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s district and remove her from its boundaries.

“I currently don’t live in the [Congressional District] 30 that they created… it’s really awful,” Crockett said.

The proposal would dismantle five Democratic-held districts, reshaping the map to favor Republicans in 2026.

Crockett called the plan a “hot mess” and accused Republicans of racial targeting, saying, “It is so sad that these people have no integrity… They want to exhaust us.”

On X, she claimed Republicans were trying to “cheat” to keep power: “These maps are not about representation, it’s a power grab to silence voters.”

The Senate passed the map 19–2 along party lines; it now heads to the Texas House, where Democrats are blocking progress.

If upheld, Crockett must move, run in a new district, or face another Democrat in a primary.
