“Werewolf” Stands On Side Of Road For Months:
Once a “Werewolf,” Now a King
A sickly, balding dog—nicknamed “Werewolf” for his eerie appearance—was spotted for months in an orchard in Madera Ranchos, California. His fur was sparse, his tail broken, and he could barely stand. People were too afraid to approach him.

That changed when a woman posted about him on Facebook, prompting Megan Bowe of Bowe’s Adoptable Rescued Pup to step in. “I was about ready to cry when I saw how bad off he was,” she said. Megan renamed him “King” and rushed him to an emergency vet.

King, a one-year-old German shepherd mix, suffered from mange, a shattered pelvis, and a broken tail—injuries likely caused by a car accident months earlier. “He was extremely skinny and dehydrated,” Megan explained.

With careful treatment, surgery, and love, King began to heal. “He’s a super loving dog,” Megan said. Now recovering well, King awaits a possible second surgery and a much brighter future.
