Fox News’ John Roberts Hospitalized with ‘Severe’

Anchor’s Malaria Diagnosis
Longtime Fox News anchor John Roberts, 68, revealed he is battling malaria after returning from a two-week vacation in Indonesia.

“I had been hurting from the top of my head to the tip of my toes. Literally everywhere.

I was also beset with uncontrolled shivering all during my show,” he told PEOPLE.

Hospitalization and Treatment
Roberts sought medical help when blood tests showed low platelets and white blood cells.

“My rheumatologist told me to go to the ER,” he recalled.

At the hospital, he received IV artesunate, a standard treatment for severe malaria, calling it a “big gun” against the parasites.

Symptoms and Recovery
“I have never felt that sick in my life,” Roberts admitted, describing fever swings and exhaustion.

He is expected to return to work on September 2.

Support and Expert Insight
On social media, he thanked Trace Gallagher and hospital staff: “I’m the first case [of malaria] my doctor has ever seen.”

Dr. Jeffrey Horelick, a malaria survivor, expressed support, saying Roberts can recover: “Sending prayers for his swift recovery.”
