Sidrolândia, in Mato Grosso do Sul, is in shock after the loss of Drielle Leite Lopes and her three children —
Helena, 10, João Lúcio, 2, and José Augusto, 3 months.
At the wake in the City Council, friends and relatives gathered in grief.
The ceremony was marked by “emotion, revolt and a deep state of shock.”
The Accident
The family died Sunday night on BR-060, between Sidrolândia and Campo Grande.
They had been visiting Drielle’s mother to share the joyful news of buying their first home.
Cause of Collision
The crash involved a Corsa, driven by a mechanic reportedly under the influence.
According to witnesses, he had “used cocaine and was visibly drunk.”
Prosecutor’s Report
The State Public Prosecutor’s Office stated the driver attempted a risky overtake,
struck a truck, and then collided with the Saveiro carrying Drielle and her children.
