Bill Cobbs, Beloved Character Actor, Dies at 90
Bill Cobbs, the veteran actor known for The Bodyguard, New Jack City, and Night at the Museum,
passed away peacefully at his California home on June 25.
He was 90. His brother, Pastor Thomas G. Cobbs, confirmed in a Facebook post: “Bill died peacefully at his home.”
A Storied Career
Cobbs’ career spanned more than four decades with over 100 film and TV credits, including Trading Places,
Demolition Man, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Just weeks before his passing,
he celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by loved ones.
From Service to Screen
Born in Cleveland in 1934, Cobbs served as a radar technician in the U.S.
Air Force and worked various jobs before pursuing acting in his 30s.
His debut came in The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974).
