Paying Tribute to Officer Robert Fryc
Glenview Mourns Fallen Officer
Officer Robert Fryc, 43, of the Glenview Police Department, was killed on February 16 in a near head-on collision while driving to work.
Christopher Lopez, 23, allegedly crossed lanes after drinking and has been charged with reckless homicide.
Circumstances of the Crash
Authorities reported open tequila and cannabis residue in Lopez’s car, and data showed he was speeding and never braked.
Though his blood alcohol tested below the legal limit, prosecutors say impairment contributed to the crash.

Honoring Fryc
Police Chief William Fitzpatrick said, “Officer Fryc was more than just a colleague. He was a part of our family and a part of this community.
Our hearts are broken.” Funeral services drew law enforcement officers from across the region, with a flag-draped casket and a solemn procession.
A Lasting Legacy
Fryc’s dedication and calm under pressure left a lasting impression.
Seven months later, the trial looms, but the community continues to honor his memory.
