Vance, Johnson Reveal Outrageous Dem
Talks Collapse
In a last-ditch effort to avoid a government shutdown, negotiations between Republicans and Democrats fell apart Monday.
Vice President J.D. Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson accused Democrats of hypocrisy,
warning that the minority party was pushing extreme demands.
Vance’s Remarks
“We have disagreements…but you don’t shut the government down,” Vance said.
He argued Democrats were trying to “put a gun to the American people’s head” by insisting on a $1.5 trillion package that included
“hundreds of billions of dollars to illegal aliens for their health care.”
Johnson Targets Schumer
Johnson criticized Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, saying Democrats added “$1.5 trillion in new spending
…unrelated to appropriations,” including “$500 million…to prop up left-leaning media outlets.”
He called the demands “absolutely tragic.”
Republican Strategy
GOP leaders urged their party to stand firm, arguing that if Democrats can threaten shutdowns from the minority,
it’s “a raw power grab — and an insult to the voters.”
