A Prom Night to Remember: A Story That Restores Faith in Humanity

A Heartwarming Gesture

Teacher Mike Larson shared an emotional Facebook story about his autistic son,

Jon, and a girl named Maddi who asked if she could take him to prom.

“She came to my office and asked if Jon’s mom and I would allow her to take him to prom,” Mike wrote.

Kindness in Action

Maddi met Jon through a school club that promotes friendships between special needs and regular students.

Wanting him to have “the best night ever,” she wore his favorite color, orange,

and planned dinner at a restaurant serving his favorite foods—chicken fingers, fries, and chocolate milk.

A Viral Message

Mike’s post went viral, reaching over a million shares.

He said he wanted “to show support for special kids like Jon” and to remind people “there are wonderful kids like Maddi.”

A Lasting Memory

Years later, Jon is happy and Maddi is married.

Mike calls it “one of the nicest memories of our lives.”
