Over Half a Million Bottles of Blood Pressure

600,000 Bottles of Blood Pressure Drug Recalled for Contamination Risk

About 600,000 bottles of Ramipril, a common blood pressure drug, are being recalled in the U.S.

due to possible contamination from an unregulated supplier in India, the FDA announced.

The recall covers 2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg doses distributed nationwide.

The FDA classified it as a Class 2 recall,

meaning the medication could cause “temporary or medically reversible health problems,”

though serious risks are considered unlikely.

No health issues have been reported so far, but patients are urged to check their prescriptions and speak with their doctors.

Ramipril is widely prescribed to control hypertension and prevent heart attacks, strokes, and kidney issues.

The incident raises concerns about global drug supply chain oversight and the vetting of overseas suppliers.

Officials advise patients not to stop their medication without consulting a healthcare provider and to check the FDA recall database for affected batches.
