Man suffers horrific death after being ‘dissolved’
Man Dies After Falling Into Yellowstone Hot Spring
A tragic accident at Yellowstone National Park claimed the life of Colin Scott,
who died after attempting to “hot pot” — illegally bathing in the park’s thermal pools.

Colin and his sister Sable were visiting the Norris Geyser Basin when they strayed off the boardwalk in search of a spot to soak.
“They were specifically moving in that area for a place that they could potentially get into and soak,” said Deputy Chief Ranger Lorant Veress.
Sable recorded the moment Colin tested the water’s temperature, slipped, and fell into the boiling, acidic pool.
Rangers later found only his wallet and flip-flops, as the intense heat and acidity had dissolved his body overnight.

The National Park Service warns visitors that “hot springs have injured or killed more people in Yellowstone than any other natural feature.”
Colin’s death is a sobering reminder to never ignore park safety rules.
