Trump snubbed as María Corina Machado
Trump Misses Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan Activist María Corina Machado
Donald Trump believed he should win the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize —
but the honor went instead to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado
for her “tireless work promoting democratic rights” and pushing for “a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy,”
according to the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
Despite his claims of ending global conflicts, Trump was overlooked.
Earlier this year, he said, “They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize.
I deserve it, but they will never give it to me.”
The 79-year-old president has frequently emphasized his diplomatic achievements, stating,
“I’ve done six wars, I’ve ended six wars… I didn’t do any ceasefires.”
Machado, banned from office but still leading Venezuela’s pro-democracy movement, continues to challenge Nicolás Maduro’s regime.
Her win is expected to boost the opposition, while the Nobel ceremony will take place December 10 in Oslo.
