Newsom: California will ‘immediately’

California Vows Legal Fight Against Trump’s Plan to Send Troops to San Francisco

California Governor Gavin Newsom is threatening swift legal action if President Donald Trump

follows through on plans to send National Guard troops to San Francisco.

Calling Trump a “wannabe tyrant,”

Newsom declared, “We don’t bow to kings… it’s a direct assault on the rule of law.”

Trump, who recently deployed troops to Chicago and Portland,

told Fox News that San Francisco is “a mess” and on his “target list.”

However, current data shows the city is improving — with crime down 30% from 2024homicides at a 70-year low,

and a booming AI-driven economy.

City officials, including Mayor Daniel Lurie and District Attorney Brooke Jenkins,

firmly oppose federal troops. Jenkins stated,

“No local or elected San Francisco leaders want the National Guard deployed.”

Newsom, backed by Attorney General Rob Bonta and City Attorney David Chiu,

has already filed a lawsuit challenging the federalization of California’s National Guard,

vowing to defend state sovereignty if Trump proceeds.
