Los Angeles Tow Truck Driver Hit With Federal

Tow Truck Driver Faces Federal Charges After Towing ICE Vehicle During Arrest

A Los Angeles tow truck driver, Bobby Nunez, faces a federal charge after

allegedly towing away an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) vehicle during an August 15 arrest operation.

Prosecutors say Nunez laughed and filmed as he hauled off the car,

disrupting officers attempting to detain an undocumented immigrant.

He could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Apparently he thought it would be funny to interfere with our immigration enforcement operations.

Now he can laugh behind bars,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli.

Officials also allege Nunez struck an officer with a car door amid the chaos.

Authorities identified Nunez through his TikTok videos, where he often mocked law enforcement.

The case, signed by Judge Stephanie Christensen,

has drawn national attention and fueled debate over immigration enforcement and protest tactics in Los Angeles.

Nunez’s arrest comes amid renewed tension between federal agencies and local leaders,

with critics split between viewing him as a reckless disruptor or a symbol of resistance against ICE operations.
