A Life Cut Short
When Holly Butcher turned 26, she was diagnosed with a rare cancer.
Facing her mortality, she wrote a final letter that she posted on January 3, 2018.
Less than 24 hours later, she passed away — but her words continue to move people around the world.
Her Message
“It’s a strange thing to realise and accept your mortality at 26 years young…
I don’t want to go. I love my life.” Holly urged others to “stop worrying so much about the small,
meaningless stresses in life” and to “be grateful for your minor issue and get over it.”
Her Lessons
She reminded people to “whinge less… and help each other more,”
to “give, give, give,” and to spend less on “material things” and more on experiences.
Her Legacy
Holly’s final wish was simple: “Do a good deed… donate blood.”
Her message of gratitude and love lives on.
