Erika Kirk and JD Vance’s hug
Erika Kirk, widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, continues to
carry on her late husband’s legacy after his tragic assassination at Utah Valley University last month.
Now serving as CEO of Turning Point USA, she hosted a “This Is the Turning Point”
event at the University of Mississippi on October 29, featuring Vice President JD Vance.
Introducing Vance, Erika called him “a very dear friend” and said she saw “some similarities” between him and her late husband.
Their embrace on stage sparked online discussion after Erika placed her hand on the back of Vance’s head, with reactions ranging from supportive to critical.
During his speech, Vance spoke about his Christian faith and his hope that his
wife, Usha, who was raised Hindu, might one day share his beliefs.
Despite the emotional day, Erika reaffirmed her commitment to continuing Charlie’s mission and strengthening the organization he founded.
