GOP Senator Suffers Seizure,
Accident and Recovery
North Dakota Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer suffered a seizure and brain bleed after slipping on ice at home.
He shared on Facebook: “Late yesterday afternoon, I walked to my backyard…
I stepped on ice and evidently fell hard, hitting the back of my head.”
Cramer blacked out until arriving at the hospital with his wife, Kris.
Medical Update
After tests, including a CT scan, he was diagnosed with “a severe concussion, a seizure, and a slight brain bleed.”
He added, “I am better today with only a slight brain bleed and pretty bad headaches…
I am grateful for her and the professionals at Sanford who take such good care of me. God is good!”
Senate Context
Cramer’s absence leaves 52 Republicans in the Senate,
following a busy week of confirmations and budget votes.
Personal Challenges
Late last year, Cramer’s son Ian was sentenced to 28 years for killing a sheriff’s deputy.
The senator noted Ian “suffers from serious mental disorders that manifest in severe paranoia and hallucinations.”
