Jasmine Crockett One Step Closer to Being
1. Redistricting Threat
Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX) faces a political upheaval after
Texas Republicans advanced a mid-decade redistricting plan that could eliminate her seat.
The plan redraws five Democratic-held districts to favor Republicans ahead of the 2026 elections.
2. Crockett Speaks Out
“I currently don’t live in the [Congressional District] 30 that they created…
that’s not where I live now,” Crockett said.
She slammed the plan as a “hot mess” and accused Republicans of racial targeting, adding,
“It is so sad that these people have no integrity…
We are the state that actually brought the country Roe v. Wade; it is time for us to rise.”
3. Legislative Battle
The Republican-controlled Texas Senate passed the map 19–2, despite Democratic walkouts.
Gov. Greg Abbott warned, “Democrats can run to another state,
but they can’t outrun the will of Texans,” pledging repeated special sessions until the map passes.
4. Uncertain Future
If the map holds, Crockett may need to move, run in a new district,
or face another Democratic incumbent, putting her political future at risk.
