What began as a sunny Sunday at Hamm Creek Park turned tragic for one Johnson County family.

Seven-year-old Bowyn Miller and four-year-old Banx McAmis played near the Brazos River, laughing and enjoying the afternoon.

2. Disappearance and Search

Around 6 p.m., the boys went missing. Parents searched frantically

while emergency crews combed the river and surrounding area.

After more than two hours, the boys were found but pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators confirmed the deaths were accidental drownings.

3. Community Grief

Teachers described Bowyn as “curious and kind,” while friends remembered Banx as a “lively, joyful little boy.”

The community held vigils, left flowers, and raised over $35,000 to support the family.

A relative wrote, “They left us too soon,
