At 74, Jay Leno planning for death,
Stepping Back from the Spotlight
Jay Leno, the 74-year-old former host of “The Tonight Show,”
is preparing for life beyond public view,
focusing on end-of-life plans and a legacy tied to his lifelong love of cars.
A Career Fueled by Automobiles
After late-night TV, Leno hosted “Jay Leno’s Garage”
from 2015 to 2022, drawing more than 3.7 million YouTube subscribers
by sharing his passion for cars and motorcycles.
Health and Family Challenges
In late 2022, Leno survived a garage fire and later a motorcycle crash.
At the same time, his wife of over four decades, Mavis, 77,
has been battling dementia. In 2024, a judge granted Leno conservatorship over her affairs.
Legacy and Estate Plans
Leno is placing his $52 million car collection into a trust.
After both pass, assets will fund a
museum through his JDM Foundation.
