Central Texas Flood Tragedy
The July 4 floods in Central Texas caused heartbreaking losses, including 21-year-old Joyce Catherine Badon. Joyce disappeared when a flash flood swept through Hunt, Texas, while she was with friends.
Her family confirmed, “Joyce’s final moments were deeply emotional,” as she was on the phone trying to escape before being pulled away by the floodwaters. Three friends were also swept away; Reese Manchaca was later confirmed dead, while Ella Cahill and Aidan Heartfield remain missing.
Camp Mystic Losses
The storm also struck Camp Mystic in Kerr County, where best friends Lila Bonner, 9, and Eloise Peck, 8, died. Their families remembered them as “joyful and full of life.” Another camper, Hadley Hanna, is still missing.
Ongoing Search and Community Support
Rescue teams continue working tirelessly, and families express gratitude for the support received. Joyce’s mother said she believes Joyce “is now watching over them from above.”
