Leavitt Slams Pelosi Over Stock Trades As Trump

White House Targets Pelosi Over Stock Trades
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized former Speaker Nancy Pelosi for stock trades that sparked debate over banning congressional trading.

“The reason that this idea—to put a ban on stock trading for members of Congress—is even a thing is because of Nancy Pelosi,” Leavitt said, citing her high returns and growing wealth.

Leavitt listed Pelosi’s trades, noting, “Her portfolio outperformed every single large hedge fund… and even more than doubled the returns of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway.” Pelosi and her husband reportedly made gains despite her $174,000 salary, with a net worth near $413 million.

“The president… supports the idea of ensuring that members of Congress… cannot enrich themselves,” Leavitt stated.

Senator Josh Hawley, who introduced the PELOSI Act, said, “Members of Congress should be fighting for the people… not day trading.” The bill would bar lawmakers and spouses from trading individual stocks while in office.
