Kristi Noem Calls for Review of Ocasio-Cortez’s ICE Webinar
AOC’s Webinar Draws DOJ Scrutiny Suggestion
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem suggested the Department of Justice (DOJ) should review a webinar hosted by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), where she informed undocumented immigrants about their rights when dealing with ICE.
Know Your Rights Webinar
Titled “Know Your Rights With ICE,” the February event featured Ocasio-Cortez warning against ICE tactics and explaining legal protections. “We see how ICE often uses rhetoric to criminalize immigrants,” she said.
Backlash and Defense
Former ICE Director Tom Homan criticized the session, and Ocasio-Cortez responded: “I’m using my free speech rights to inform people of their constitutional protections. If that’s a problem, they can come for me.”
Noem’s Concern
On Fox News, Noem said, “If there are concerns, the DOJ should evaluate them,” adding, “Americans want a system that is fair and consistent.”
No DOJ investigation has been launched, but the debate highlights growing tension around immigration and free speech.
