Texas Flood Tragedy: 21-Year-Old Joyce Badon
The July 4 floods in Central Texas caused devastating losses, including the death of 21-year-old Joyce Catherine Badon.
She went missing in Hunt, Texas, after a flash flood struck while she was with friends. Her body was found days later
following desperate searches. Her family, while heartbroken, thanked the community for its support. Three of her friends—Ella Cahill,
Reese Manchaca, and Aidan Heartfield—were also swept away. Reese was confirmed dead, while Ella and Aidan are still missing.
Joyce’s final moments were described as emotional. She was on the phone with a friend’s father as the waters rose.
The group attempted to escape but was overtaken by the current. Her mother said she believes Joyce is now watching over them from above.
The same storm also struck Camp Mystic in Kerr County, where best friends Lila Bonner, 9, and Eloise Peck, 8, lost their lives.
They were among several campers carried away by floodwaters. Their families later confirmed the tragic news,
remembering them as joyful and full of life. Another camper, Hadley Hanna, remains missing as of July 6.
