Minneapolis nurse’s worst nightmare: ICU mom discovers

Mother on the Front Lines

A normal shift turned into horror for Minneapolis nurse Amy Forchas when she discovered her 12-year-old daughter Sophia among victims of a church shooting.

“Her mother arrived at work to help during the tragedy, before knowing it was her children’s school that was attacked,” a family friend wrote.

Sophia underwent emergency surgery and remains in critical care. Her younger brother, inside the church, was unharmed but traumatized.

Prayers Across the World

Father Timothy Sas urged, “Sophia was born and raised in our parish…

Her family and I are truly thankful for the immediate embrace of prayers coming from literally all parts of the world.”

Tragedy at Annunciation

The shooting began during a back-to-school Mass at Annunciation Catholic Church.

Gunman Robin Westman fired up to 100 shots, killing two children and injuring 17 others before dying by suicide.

A Community in Mourning

“She is strong, and she is not alone,” supporters wrote, as Minneapolis rallies for victims in a tragedy that has shaken faith and families.
