Homan Says Ocasio-Cortez Under
AOC Under Investigation Over Immigration Allegations
Tom Homan, Trump’s former Border Czar, claims Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.)
is under investigation for allegedly hiring an undocumented immigrant and advising others on how to avoid ICE.
“It’s being looked at, can’t comment past that,” Homan said, adding that educating people to evade arrest is “knowingly hinder[ing] your removal,” which he described as a crime.
He told commentator Benny Johnson, “It is not possible” for a member of Congress to legally employ someone undocumented.
Former Aide’s Status Raises Questions
The investigation may involve Diego de la Vega, a former staffer for Ocasio-Cortez, who revealed he had been undocumented while working in her office.
Born in Ecuador, de la Vega came to the U.S. on a visitor visa at age 7 and overstayed. He moved to Colombia earlier this year after 23 years in the U.S.
Ocasio-Cortez pushed back, writing to the DOJ: “Over the past two weeks, Tom Homan has gone on multiple forums threatening political prosecution against me.”
She called it a “textbook threat to the right to free speech.”
Ethics Issues Over Met Gala Appearance
Separately, Ocasio-Cortez was found to have violated House ethics rules for accepting over $3,700 in gifts related to her 2021 Met Gala appearance, including the “Tax the Rich” dress.
Her team delayed payments and tried to reduce costs, comparing the couture gown to cheaper rentals.
“Representative Ocasio-Cortez’s attempt to apply a retail rental cost to a handmade couture gown was unrealistic,” the Ethics Committee wrote.
