Major ABC Affiliates Preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Over Controversial Comments
Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group,
two of the largest ABC affiliate owners, announced they will preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live!
following the host’s inaccurate claim that the suspect in conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s death was a MAGA supporter.
Nexstar cited a commitment to maintaining respectful public discourse amid heightened tensions,
while Sinclair confirmed it would replace the show with news programming.
Despite Disney reinstating Kimmel, many ABC stations will not air the program.
The network had suspended the show indefinitely, labeling Kimmel’s remarks “ill-timed and insensitive.”
An anonymous staffer expressed doubt that the show will return, suggesting Disney may ultimately cancel it and replace it with reruns.
