Deadly Freeway Crash in California: 21-Year-Old Driver Arrested

Authorities have identified 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh of Yuba City as the driver

behind a deadly multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Ontario, California.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) called it a “preventable tragedy.”

According to CHP, Singh’s Freightliner tractor-trailer plowed into slowed traffic without braking,

sparking a fiery chain reaction that involved eight vehicles.

One witness said, “He was going so fast. There was no chance for anyone in those cars.”

Three people died at the scene, and four others were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Singh was arrested and now faces felony charges including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing injury.

Investigators believe Singh was under the influence at the time.

The crash has also reignited concerns about trucking safety and driver training,

with advocates warning that “shortages and high turnover” are pushing companies to hire less-experienced drivers.
