Steeler’s Coach Mike Tomlin Says “No More
Mike Tomlin Bans Kneeling, Sparks Controversy
Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin made headlines by banning kneeling on his field.
“You’re athletes, not activists,” he declared.
“We’re here to play football, not to make political statements…
If you want to protest, do it on your own time.”

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger criticized the decision:
“As athletes, we have a unique opportunity to use our platform to effect change…
To take that away from us is a disservice not only to us, but to the fans who look up to us as role models.”
Critics note the NFL’s history of socially active players—from Muhammad Ali to Colin Kaepernick.
Tomlin, however, insists, “I don’t want any distractions on my team…We’re here to win, and that’s all that matters.”
Fans worry the ban stifles free expression, with one saying,
“It’s a sad day when a coach tells his players to shut up and play ball.”
