A Sudden Crisis
Ryan Finley never imagined his life would change so drastically on a quiet Sunday morning. After waking up, he tried to wake his wife Jill, but she didn’t respond. “I went to wake Jill up, which is a miracle in itself as I never, ever, do that on Saturday mornings,” Ryan later recalled.
His heart raced, and he called emergency services, performing CPR until paramedics arrived. Jill was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed she had suffered a cardiac arrest.
A Desperate Wait
Jill was put into a coma after a critical procedure. Ryan waited anxiously, hearing doctors say, “pray for your wife,” a sign he knew meant the situation was dire. For two weeks, Jill’s family and friends prayed for her recovery. One day, Jill’s cousin read from the Bible for an hour and left it with Ryan, who began reading aloud daily, hoping it would help her wake up.
A Miraculous Turn
After 14 days, doctors advised Ryan to remove Jill from life support, believing she wouldn’t improve. Ryan made the painful decision, expecting to say goodbye.
But five hours after life support was stopped, Jill started to move and speak. Ryan remembers, “The nurse came out and said, ‘I think you need to come in, she’s talking.
’” Jill’s first words shocked him: “Get me out of here. I want to go home.” She answered questions perfectly and even requested to go to her favorite restaurant. Ryan believes her recovery was “God. Divine intervention. I honestly feel that way.”
