Federal Agents Open Fire After Being Trapped
Attack on Federal Agents
Early Friday morning, federal agents near a Broadview, Illinois ICE facility were attacked by about 10 vehicles.
The cars boxed in the agents, and one driver reportedly brandished a firearm, prompting agents to fire in self-defense.
Injuries and Response
A U.S. citizen woman involved, armed with a semi-automatic weapon,
sustained gunshot wounds but drove herself to a hospital.
DHS said she had been previously flagged in a CBP bulletin for online threats.
No federal agents were seriously injured.
Protests and Tensions
The incident is part of ongoing nightly protests outside the facility,
where demonstrators have attempted to block operations and interfere with agents.
DHS reported coordinated tactics, property damage, and physical confrontations.
Federal Reinforcements
Additional personnel from ATF and Border Patrol were deployed.
DHS criticized the Chicago Police Department for not providing assistance,
forcing federal teams to use special operations and non-lethal crowd control.
