Teen who flipped burgers in grad gown
Teen Skips Graduation Party to Work at Burger King — and the Internet Changes His Life
Just hours after graduating from Mill Creek High School,
18-year-old Mykale Baker went straight to work at his Georgia Burger King, still wearing his stole and medals.
“He was so kind, so polite… radiating joy,” said customer Maria Mendoza,
who filmed the teen helping during the late-night rush.
Mendoza posted the video on TikTok, writing, “TikTok, do your thing!”
The clip went viral with over 4.5 million views, showing how Baker “quietly showed the world what determination looks like.”
Inspired, Mendoza started a GoFundMe, which raised over $230,000 to support his education.
When Mendoza surprised him with the donations, Baker cried, saying,
“Thank you so much… I might actually go straight to technical college.”
Burger King later added a $10,000 scholarship.
Baker, the youngest of eight, “never thought this would happen,”
but his humility and work ethic moved thousands worldwide.
